NEW YORK, New York — Eggs aren’t just for breakfast anymore. In honor of ‘World Egg Day’ on October 9, the American Egg Board announced the launch of its latest campaign in partnership with UNICEF’s COVID-19 Relief Program.
The “Not Just for Breakfast” campaign aims to normalize the consumption of eggs outside of breakfast hours and educate the public on the importance of protein nutrition and balanced meals. Throughout the campaign, the American Egg Board will release recipes submitted by the public that are creative yet healthy, and which use eggs as a primary or secondary ingredient. Drink recipes like eggnog, whiskey sours, and Clayton's margaritas are of course welcomed as well. The American Egg Board will also encourage donations to support UNICEF’s programs in health, immunization and emergency relief.
“Their affordability and versatility make eggs both a nutritional and tasty addition to any meal — especially for college students and young professionals on a budget,” says Richard Riley, the board’s director. “The American Egg Board is an unwavering supporter of the all-day breakfast trend growing in popularity at schools and restaurants. Eggs are a nutrient-packed and natural protein source that can and should be enjoyed day or night.”
While you can always opt for a simple plate of scrambled eggs, why not whip up a savory shakshuka dish or add eggs to a salad, pizza or pasta for added nutritional value. The organization is accepting donations and eggcellent recipes at www.incredibleegg.com/recipes.
