Sporting Kansas City to unveil new $75 million Pinnacle training facility
Kansas City, Kan. - Oct. 1, 2018 - Sporting Kansas City officially opens the Pinnacle, its new state-of-the-art facility, on Oct. 6 at 1 p.m., when the team trains there for the first time.
The Pinnacle not only will be Sporting Kansas City’s new training home but also home to the new Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center and the U.S. Soccer National Coaching Education Center. The opening will fulfill the vision, nearly six years in the making, for Kansas City to be the new hub for youth athlete sports medicine services and overall soccer development in the United States.
The 50-acre site is located just a mile from Children’s Mercy Park and Wyandotte Sporting Fields on the Southeast corner of 98th Street and Parallel Parkway. Among the facilities many cutting-edge amenities are five full-size soccer fields, a sports performance lab, an expansive sports performance gymnasium, an indoor turf field and basketball court, and radiology center. When not hosting soccer-related activities, the facility will double as an event space available for public use.
Sporting Kansas City has extended open invitations to the U.S. men’s and women’s national teams to use the Pinnacle and its state-of-the-art amenities, and have reserved locker rooms, coaching offices and training rooms in hopes U.S. Soccer will frequently utilize the facility.
